Your product must be accessible to everyone who needs it. If it isn’t, you may be in breach of the Equality Act 2010.
To meet the Nationwide Accessibility Standard, your product must:
- Meet Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1.
- Work with the most commonly used assistive technologies, including speech recognition tools, screen magnifiers, and screen readers.
- Include people with disabilities in user research and testing.
New products must meet this standard before launch, existing products must have a plan in place for meeting the standard.
Products you procure must meet this subset of the Nationwide Accessibility Standard:
- Meet Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1.
- Work with the most commonly used assistive technologies, including speech recognition tools, screen magnifiers, and screen readers.
